Swimming with the fishes in Elementary

DIVE RIGHT INTO ELEMENTARY!

With the semester about to close and vacation coming elementary has been learning about various types of animal habitats from the frigid Arctic habitat to the warm habitat of the Rainforest.  Elementary students really focused on the Ocean habitat in anticipation for our field trip to the New England Aquarium.  We found that the Ocean habitat can be cold or warm and that many animals live there such as turtles, sharks, sting rays, various fish, plant life, and more! In some oceans there can be penguins as we saw on our field trip!  The students had an exciting time seeing the animals they were learning about especially looking over at the penguins and even pressing there faces up to the gigantic ocean tank!

Middle School is Springing into the Vacation Program

The Spring Fling Vacation program has begun! Winter may be overstaying its welcome, but the Middle School Division is taking a "fake it 'til you make it" approach to spring with a field trip to Webb Memorial State Park.

Students layered up for a walk along the waterfront where several commuter ferry boats and airplanes were spotted going across the bay to Boston. Birds were busy building nests despite the winds, and students enjoyed the sunny sightseeing. While spring may feel delayed, it has certainly sprung for the students in Middle School.

Elementary is rolling into Spring (March)

Elementary has been getting into the spring spirit even though we have had a lot of snow in March.  We have been learning about various habitats in Science and we will end with learning about the ocean and finish off with a fun trip to the aquarium. We are very excited to have a field trip see all the animals we have learned about in school!  We are also starting to learn about the plant life cycle within our Science, Math, and Language Arts classes.

Elementary has been rollerblading in PE, many of our new students have really picked up on this new skill that they have not done before.  Hopefully we can continue to build on our new skills and we will be hopping on our pogo sticks all the way to annual celebration.

What is your passion?

HSA had a fun moment creating what they like the most then ended up with these smiles at the vocational activity in the residence. At BHS, students have many opportunities to discover and nurture their potential. Ceramics is  one of them. Each student will gain skills with repetitious practice and I am very excited about it. So, what kind of skills do you want to explore while you are in Higashi?
