The Emergence Students have swung into the New Year working on nutrition and making healthy choices. We are learning all about the different food groups using My Plate and reading important information on nutrition labels. Then we have been taking our knowledge into the community during our Community Education trips to practice our purchasing routines and making healthy snack choices.

Winter/Spring 2018 Started!
The CAEP Winter/Spring 2018
started on Saturday, January 20th with 32 former students and their
parents/caretakers! The sessions are
held from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm every other Saturday until March 31st. April 7th
is the reserved day to compensate for any cancellation due to inclement
weather.
The classes include swimming,
music/jazz band, art/employment education, cooking, and yoga/dance. We have two
new features with the class lineup (i.e., employment education and line dance).
The employment education class will be the place for participants to develop
their fine motor skills and to learn "pre-employment skills." In the
dance/yoga class, the line dance will be incorporated, in addition to Zumba.
The CAEP Committee members are pleased to have a team of motivated and
dedicated staff members and believe that the participants and their parents/caretakers will enjoy themselves and learn something new.
Participants will showcase what
they have leant in the first five sessions during the last session on March
31st or April 7th.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email the CAEP Committee members at BHSAlumni@bostonhigashi.org

Sledding into the New Year
As we begin our new year, the students of elementary have been thinking of what goals they want to accomplish this year. A majority of the students want to exercise more, eat lots of vegetables and fruit, and most importantly learn new skills in 2018. The latter of the goals is very important in elementary as we've had many new students who are learning many skills, from learning about the winter and fractions in the classroom, to scooters in PE, then to playing the drums in music... it is all very exciting. The one thing all the students in elementary can agree on about the winter is sledding is a lot of fun, we all got to enjoy the fresh snow during the first blizzard of this new year. We hope to continue all this fun going into the month of February and to keep our goals in mind as we go.
